Description

Eyrewell Forest Motor Company are thrilled to present this Brabham BT62.

Car number 4 of 7 cars manufactured and the only RHD dedicated track version, as raced by Shane Van Gisbergen in the six hour endurance race at Highlands.

“For the thrill-seeking billionaire with at least one of everything, this could be the biggest adrenaline spike of all.” – Car and Driver

The Brabham BT62 features a tubular spaceframe steel chassis, eschewing the use of a carbon monocoque. Positioned low behind the cockpit, the car is powered by a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 700 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque. Notably, the absence of weight minimums ensures a light overall design. Brabham claims a dry weight of 972 kg, which likely increases to around 1,100 kg when factoring in fluids and fuel. Despite its relatively low weight, the BT62 generates significant downforce, producing 1,200 kg of aerodynamic pressure at 200 km/h (125 mph) and 1,600 kg at 300 km/h (186 mph), enabling it to maintain traction even at extreme angles.

The Brabham name carries a legacy established by Sir Jack Brabham, a three-time Formula 1 world champion and the founder of the Brabham racing team, which secured 35 Grand Prix victories. His sons, Geoff and David, both achieved success in endurance racing, with David being the driving force behind the development of the BT62.

In terms of track performance, the BT62 excels with exceptional communication, grip, and downforce. The car’s handling is precise and stable, providing a feeling of control without being overly sensitive or unpredictable. It offers a sharp, responsive driving experience that remains composed at high speeds.

The engine elevates the BT62’s performance to a level comparable to elite endurance race cars from the late 1980s, such as the Jaguar XJR-9, Mazda 767, or Sauber C9, rather than other hypercars like the McLaren Senna. The 700-horsepower naturally aspirated V8 gives the BT62 a visceral, raw power delivery that firmly places it in the realm of top-tier racing machinery.
